On the first day of term, Tuesday 1 September 2026, you will have the opportunity to get to know the teachers. Here is our proposed plan for the first day of term.
To ensure that this goes as smoothly as possible for our Reception pupils and their families, we would like to organise a staggered arrival of pupils in small groups.
In practical terms, we propose to welcome your children in groups of eight.
The first group will arrive at 8.30 am; parents will be allowed to stay in the classroom for 30 minutes to help with the transition and to get to know the teacher.
Then a second group of children will be welcomed from 9.00 am, and finally the third group at 9.30 am.
The nursery teaching assistant will look after the first group in an adjoining classroom from 9.00 am to 9.30 am, then the second group from 9.30 am to 10.00 am. At 10.00 am, all the pupils will join the teacher in the classroom.
We invite you to take part in the survey, which will be sent out by email in early July, so that we can organise this event.

On the first day of term, Tuesday 1 September 2026, you will have the opportunity to meet the teachers. Here is our proposed schedule for the first day of term:
8.15 am to 8.45 am: Welcome for families of P1 and P3 pupils (EN and FR sections). Parents may accompany their child to their classroom to help them settle in and meet their teacher. Entry will be via the main gate at 116 Rue Charcot, Marcq-en-Baroeul.
From 8.30 am to 9.00 am: Welcome for families of P2, P4 and P5 pupils (EN and FR sections). Parents may accompany their child to the classroom to help them settle in and meet the teacher. Entry will be via the main gate at 116 Rue Charcot, Marcq-en-Baroeul.
On other days of the week, parents will drop their child off at the school gate at 8.15 am, and your child will go on their own to join their teacher in the classroom. A member of staff will meet your child in the corridor of the primary school buildings.
At lunchtime and in the evening, children who are being collected by their families will be brought to the gate by the teachers. Parents will therefore not enter the school grounds either. On an ad hoc and individual basis, the school remains, of course, open to parents whenever necessary. For children attending the after-school club, you will need to ring the bell to collect your child.
