EELM: A school at the heart of Europe thanks to Erasmus+
Since 2021, the École Européenne Lille Métropole Jacques-Delors (EELM) has benefited from Erasmus+ accreditation, a flagship initiative of the European Union. In place until 2027, it allows the school to intensify its mission of education for European citizenship by relying on European mobility, cultural openness and educational cooperation with 4 objectives:
- To build a respectful, inclusive and supportive community that is open to Europe.
- Improving digital skills to help pupils make progress and improve the school climate.
- Involving learners in protecting the environment.
- Linguistic openness in support of European citizenship.
Obtaining Erasmus+ accreditation has led to a large number of exchanges for teachers (job shadowing, language courses, etc.) and learners (immersion in other schools in Europe).
These exchanges have enabled the EELM team to improve their language and teaching skills, and to draw inspiration from educational practices in other European countries. One example is the involvement of the after-school team in primary classes during teaching hours, a project inspired by a job shadowing in Denmark.
Our students have had the opportunity to open up even further to other cultures and to strengthen their European identity by meeting young Spanish, Italian, and Estonian people during exchange trips.
Erasmus+ has already enabled EELM to become a model of multicultural education and active citizenship. Openness to Europe is a reality lived on a daily basis, one that fulfills the four objectives of our European development plan.
